Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

Krystal Fae (Acidburn)
Administrator
Krystal was about to enter her apartment when she noticed a familiar fae energy...

"Hello, Berry Breath... how are you this evening?", she said.
"Hello, Krystal... I am always fine, but thanks for asking... I have a message for you."

A small ruby spell-stone levitated to her hand.

As Krystal touched the activating rune, a small magical image began to form. Krystal recognized Oberon, King of the Fae.

"My dear niece Krystal... salutations... It is our thought that since your original assignment in the HR dimension has been completed, it is time you returned to Fae-re for debriefing and possible reassignment.  Titania and Alex send their hopes that your return is imminent, as do I. As always, I remain your devoted 'Uncle Obie'..."

The image faded.

"Tell Oberon, Titania, and Alex that I shall come shortly... it will take some time to arrange, but I should be able to arrange things quickly... Thank you, Berry."

"Very good, Kaye...", said Berry Breath as he faded from view, and then from the dimension.

**********************************************************

"Bobbi... James... I wanted you to be the first to know, outside of my family, that I..I'm pregnant... I'm going to be going to Fae-re for a short time, to tell Murph in person, and take care of a few things...", said Krystal.

"That's wonderful...", said Bobbi.

Corrine, hearing Krystal, stepped in and stated, "Hello, Krystal... Aphreal wanted me to give you this next time I saw you...". She handed the paper to Krystal.

As Krystal read, her brow furrowed slightly.

"Congratulations on your blessed event, While I have had no premonition of trouble, caution would be advised, especially during any travel..."

"Bobbi, given that this is my 1st, and given Aphreal's sentiment... would it be wise to take a magical healer with me?"

"I know just the person. ", said Bobbi. "... I'll contact her now."

"Collette, could you join us for a minute?" Bobby called to her sister, who was the head nurse at Ice Ray Academy, as well as the Potions teacher.

"This is our old ally, Krystal Murphy, who I am sure you remember."

"Yes, I remember her from two remarkable occasions at least," Collette said while failing to hide a grin.

"How is our snakey patient doing these days?"

"He recovered nicely, Thank you, and he has an avatar in this dimension as well...".

"Yes, we know..., but I have been very discreetly checking on his health, and yours as well.  I can never let any of my treated patients suffer a relapse... it would reflect poorly on my record as a nurse.

Congrats on your pregnancy and I can fully understand why Bobby asked me to come in.

While I am pretty positive that the Fae are good healers when they choose to be, it can never hurt to have a professional that you trust on hand."

"Then, if you will have a few days available in about a week, I would like to have you accompany me on a trip to the Alfheim to handle some business and personal matters there... I need to tell Murph in person he's about to be a father... and there are a few other things that I ought to take care of while there..."

"I would be honored Krystal," said Collette. "Besides it has been way too long since any of us saw Alex and it would be nice to see how he is doing."

*******************************************************************************

The next day, Krystal was standing at her lab table, bending to read the computer screen.

"Yes, Silver... how may I help you?", she said without turning or looking, before he could signal his intention to gain her attention.

"You are aware that is a bit spooky, Ms. Fae... in any case, I have a request to make of you, since your skills cover those most likely to be needed."

Krystal turned to face him, as she began to show her interest."

"Ever since we were aboard the Continuum vessel, I've worried that the mystical bond Chaz Hamilton and I share will endanger him. I would like to know if there is any enchantment or means by which his life force and mine can be unbound from one another?" Silver Paladin asked.

"I see... I believe that it should be possible... I know of a few experts who should be able to work on the problem, but they currently reside in Fae-re... hmm... I have some business there... maybe Chaz and you should join me..."

"I would appreciate it, but getting him to go might take some... persuading." Silver Paladin said. "But it is what is best for him in the long run. I'll make it happen."

******************************************************************************

Later that evening, Krystal sent a pair of text messages through the BADGE comm system.

"Gerri... I have a few things to take care of in Fae-re... I was just thinking that since you had never been... well... that you might enjoy seeing what things are like there...", wrote Krystal.

"YES!  I mean, of course," was Gerri's immediate reply.

"Allison, I know you've been having bad dreams about what Morganna put you through... No, I haven't been 'reading' you, but some stuff comes through on its own... If it would put your mind at ease, I'm going to be going to Fae-re for a few days... you could tag along and see that Morganna is being properly 'supervised'...  Let me know... KF"

********************************************************************************
That night as Krystal meditated, she sent out a telepathic message to Futurina.

"I have business in the Alfheim, and if you're agreeable I'd like you to join my little group to set a few things right...", she sent the place and time to meet her.

"T'would be my genuine pleasure, mistress of the fae...", was the reply.

The Sword of Gerraxia
Gerri realized her overly excited response was probably not very professional.  It was something she had always wanted.  She would have been a fool to pass up such an offer.  She looked at her younger brother who looked confused.

"What's going on, Gerri?" he asked.

"I'm going to Alfheim," she replied.  "I've always wanted to go.  Do we have any relatives still alive there?"

"I think our great grandfather is still alive over there," he stated.  "Mom still gets letters from him and we send cards every year."

"I heard James say his uncle Ernie went there a few years ago to retire," She mentioned.  "I wonder if Futurina knows if any of the old crew that great grandmother worked with are still alive besides those two?"

"You'll have to ask her," he stated.
"Swords are for fighting."

Futurina came out of her meditation.  "Keri, get out the iron shackles and that gold circlet," she said.

   "Why?" Astra wondered.

"Because I'm going to Alfheim," Futurina sighed.  "King Eldran insisted anytime I set foot into Alfheim I be shackled and wear that silly circlet.  I'm going as a guest but I'll have to do this properly.  Gerri probably doesn't have the requirements, so I'll provide them to make it all nice and legal."

"Aren't you exiled?" Astra asked.  "That seems like a prisoner transfer."

"It sort of is," Futurina stated.  "I'm not going on official elf business.  I'm a guest of Krystal Fae.  I just have to observe protocol."  She looked over the iron shackles, she gave a mischievous smile.  The gold circlet made her frown.  She never had fun with that item.  This gave Astra a look of concern.  She smiled at her adoptive daughter.  "Don't worry, I'll be fine."

"Do you want me to go too?" Astra questioned.

"No, there is enough for you to do here," Futurina replied.  "Save the world and keep it safe while I'm gone.  I won't be long."

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

Silver Paladin
"I don't want to go!" Chaz shouted as he slammed his notepad down on the table. "I work with her at the Sentinel. I don't want to go on vacation with her to Alf's home."

"Alfheim," Silver Paladin corrected the reporter. "We aren't going to be hanging out with her. She is going to point me in the direction of one of the Fae residents who can help separate our life forces from one another."

"And while she's gone, I have the opportunity to get some reporting done without her looming over me." Chaz flopped onto the couch and rubbed his forehead. "Do you understand how exhausting it is to keep your mind focused on small stories all the time so she doesn't reach in and scoop your leads out of your head. She does that, you know."

"I doubt she has ever stolen a story from you," Silver Paladin said as he crossed his arms.

Chaz moved his hand and stared Silver Paladin. "But you can't be sure of it, can you?"

"I know you are just looking for any excuse you can find not to go, but you also know we need to do this. If something were to happen to me while in battle and I were killed, you would most likely die as well."

"Well, that's just great." Chaz sat up. "I have an easier solution. Don't go into battle. Pick a name for yourself. Get a job doing something you enjoy. I'm sure there is a Renaissance festival out there somewhere hiring folks."

"I wasn't forged from your mind to be a carnival attraction. I am meant to be a protector, so stop your whining and ask for the time off. We're going with her."

"Fine. Whatever." Chaz shrugged his shoulders in defeat. "Maybe I can pick up some of that wine Futurina had at the poker party."

Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale
By Crossroads PID# 11004

Allyson returned to her apartment after a long shift at the restaurant. She was looking forward to a little ‘me’ time with a hot bath, scented candles, and the latest fantasy novel she picked a few days ago, a new series by D. Peyton.

“I hope it’s as fun as the last series!” mused Allyson, also known as the hero, Crossroads.

Entering her bedroom, Allyson dropped her purse on the bed and started emptying her pockets of the day’s tips. Counting it up quickly (it was that slow of a night), she shoved it into her purse and noticed that her BADGE communicator was flashing.  Since it wasn’t making a God-awful racket and Nova;s voice wasn’t yelling out of it, she assumed it was just a message from one of her BADGE friends like Leslie or Catalyst.

“I’ll check it out AFTER my bath!”

After a relaxing soak and a few chapters of a seriously amusing fantasy novel, Allyson was sleepily sliding between the sheets of her very warm and welcoming bed. Reaching over to make sure her alarm was set, she noticed her communicator.

“OK, I better see what’s up....”

Logging on to her message server Allyson saw that it was a message from Krystal:

"Allyson, I know you've been having bad dreams about what Morganna put you through... No, I haven't been 'reading' you, but some stuff comes through on its own.... If it would put your mind at ease, I'm going to be going to Fae-re for a few days... you could tag along and see that Morganna is being properly 'supervised'...  Let me know... KF"

Allyson sat and stared at the message from Krystal, long after the screen of the communicator went into sleep mode. Thoughts of Morganna often had that effect on her.  It brought back all the memories of what Morganna and her henchmen did to her. It left her feeling dirty, violated, scared, and much less sure of herself.  She can’t even be around cats anymore.  And for a lifelong cat-lover, that makes her cry more often that she admits.

Her therapist said it was a form of PTSD. Several of the other victims of the shape-changing incident had similar issues. It was an attack and violation on their sense of self. Her therapist and the group therapy she and the others participate in were helping her cope.  But she wanted to do more than cope.  She wanted defeat this foe like she defeated all the criminals she has put away.  She can’t be afraid to face the fear, and that means facing Morganna and seeing her get what’s coming to her.

Taking a deep breath and putting on a brave face, Allyson composed her reply carefully.

“Hi, Krys! Thank you for inviting me!  I would love to go with you. I’m sure that the Fae Court will take care of Morganna adequately, but you are right that I would like to witness it myself.  What should I pack?  How long should I request of from work and from BADGE?  What about the legend that mortals who visit the Fae realms for a few hours or days, return and find they have been gone for months or years?

“Anyway, I’ll talk to you tomorrow about it!  Thanks again! AR”

Allyson hoped she didn’t blather on too much in the reply and sent it to Krystal.  She hopped out of bed and turned on the lights, knowing she wasn’t going to get to sleep anytime soon.  She opened her closet and took inventory of her outfits.

“Now what does one wear when visiting the Land of the Fae?” Looking critically at her clothes, Allyson sighs and says aloud, "I am definitely going to have to go shopping!"

"Just think what I could accomplish if I didn't have all these 80's song lyrics in my head!"

Krystal returned Ally's message quickly.

"The time slip thing is only done to trespassers, not invited guests... just don't eat or drink anything unless I or Gerri tell you its ok for Humans, and you'll be fine... As to what to pack, think 'camping clothes'... the weather can be a bit, shall we say, unpredictable, given that fae and fairies are running about casting magic willy-nilly at each one's whim... in any case, I'd ask for a week leave from any responsibilities. I hope that seeing how the fae 'police' their own will help settle your mind... KF"

"I'm glad she took me up on this...", she thought.

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

Silver Paladin
Chaz and Silver Paladin marched through the forest to the glade Krystal Fae instructed them to meet at. Silver Paladin carried a flashlight to illuminate the pre-dawn path as Chaz hauled his sizeable backpack over his shoulders.

"I don't think you needed to bring all of that, Chaz," Silver Paladin said as he engaged the blade from one of  his wrist holders and used it as a manchette to clear branches out of their way.

"It never hurts to be prepared. I interviewed and Eagle Scout once and he gave me a full list of items to take when going into unfamiliar territory." Chaz huffed with effort as he carried his gear. "If we get separated from the group like last time, we will be prepared!"

The sky behind the canopy of branches began to lighten, the dark black replaced by a deep blue and hidden clouds revealing themselves as dawn approached.

"Have you heard from any of them yet?" Chaz asked. "I mean, we really are going to the Alf home, right."

"Alfheim," Silver Paladin corrected Chaz yet again. "If you say it wrong to one of its residents, they might curse you or something. And no, I haven't heard from any of them, but most of them can teleport. They'll be there in plenty of time."

Chaz laughed heartily. "Yeah, right."

"Why do you find that so funny?" Silver Paladin stopped and turned to his companion.

"Remind me to play 'Waiting on a Woman' by Brad Paisley for you when we get back," Chaz shook his head. "We're going on a trip with a bunch of fine ladies, but it is a proven fact that we will be there before long before they will."

"We will see," Silver Paladin shrugged. "If they are late, I'm sure it will be with a good reason."

They walked for a few minutes more before entering the glade where a ring of white stones sat. Other than the stones and a few scurrying rabbits and an irritated fox who glared at their arrival from a stand of bushes before disappearing itself, the glade was empty.

"See," Chaz set down his backpack. "I told you. No sign of them."

"I'm unsurprised. They weren't all going to be here for some time yet."

"Why the hell are we here so early then?" Chaz demanded loudly enough to startle several birds out of nearby trees.

"I didn't want you getting distracted by any big stories and cancelling on me at the last minute. If I got you here before the city wakes up, you wouldn't have the opportunity to find an excuse not to go." Silver Paladin pulled out a thermos. "Would you care for some tea while we wait?"

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

The Sword of Gerraxia
Gerri parked her old shuttle nearby and walked to the meeting point.  She brought the tome of Elf lore with her.  She saw Chaz and Silver Paladin sitting and waiting.

"Whew, I'm not the first to arrive," She stated to the two men.  "I've been so excited.  I wonder who I'll meet from my great grandmother's old crew?"  She was trying to make small talk.  She saw a flash of red psionic energy as Astra appeared with Futurina who was wearing iron shackles and a gold circlet on her head.  This puzzled Gerri.

"Are you sure you don't want me to stay?" Astra questioned.

"I'll be okay," Futurina winced.  "I'm just following protocol.  Now be good and take care of this world until I get back."  Futurina tried to make it look like she wasn't in pain but those who knew her could see it.

"I'll make sure she's fine," Gerri stated trying to alleviate fears.  "After all, that's why I brought the book."

Futurina smiled at Silver Paladin and Chaz.  "I won't tell you the story behind this, Chaz.  It's nice to know you still think I'm newsworthy."
"Swords are for fighting."

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

Crossroads
In reply to this post by Krystal Fae (Acidburn)
“Okay, I think I’m all set.” Allyson, wearing sturdy hiking boots, a tough pair of khaki hiking pants, a long-sleeved wicking shirt, and light windbreaker, nervously checked and rechecked her packing list.  Her mother always made her make lists of what to pack whenever she went on a trip with the family and the habit has served her well over the years. Although, she’s pretty sure her mother never imagined she would be packing for a trip to another dimension.

“Alright, that’s enough procrastination.  Dr. Holden says I have to face my fears, not hide from them and hope they’ll go away.” Picking up her BADGE communicator, Allyson reviewed the directions to the magical glade that Krystal had sent. Not that she needed them.  As long as someone she knew was there, she could dimension-skip right to them.  And since those going were all involved in the incident Xlcior and the other photonic beings, she could skip to any one of them.

Making sure her door was locked and the oven off, Allyson took a deep breath, and pictured the dimensional barrier. She searched for the presence on the barrier that represented Krystal. It was easy to find – Krystal’s signature is very unique.  However, Krystal still appeared to be at the BADGE facility.

Allyson searched for the presences she expected and found them grouped together in what appeared to be an area of wilderness. Chaz Hamilton, Silver Paladin, Furturina, and Gerri were there.  Allyson also detected the presence of Astra, but then her signature rippled, as if a rock was dropped into a pond, and rings of energy spread out from where her signature was and dissipated.

“Well, that was cool! I’ve never seen someone use a transportation power from this perspective. Anyway, time to skip”

Allyson reached for the barrier and touched the presence that was Gerri, and suddenly she was standing next to her in what had all the appearance of a storybook sylvan glade.

________________________________________

Allyson’s sudden appearance would startle most people, but Futurina and Gerri could feel the warping of space-time in their immediate vicinity and knew someone was about to teleport in. Silver Paladin was too much a warrior to be startled that easily.  He instantly identified Allyson’s arrival and categorized it as benign and relaxed in less than the blink of an eye.  If he was startled at all, no one would have been able to tell, anyway.

“Hi, everyone!” Allyson said brightly as she appeared.

While the others had already recognized her arrival, Chaz was not looking in her direction when she appeared, so the sudden greeting from an unexpected source definitely startled him. Whirling around towards the new arrival with a little yelp was not as smoothly done as Chaz would have hoped. While he adroitly spun to face Allyson, the large backpack he was wearing over-balanced him and his spin continued until he was lying on the ground.

“Oh! I’m sorry, Chaz!  I didn’t mean to scare you,” Allyson exclaimed as she went to help him up.

Chaz was able to struggle to his feet, with a little help from Silver Paladin and Crossroads. Waving Crossroads and Silver Paladin off, Chaz dusted himself off and said, “Don’t worry about it, Crossroads.  I’m a city boy and being in the wilderness puts me on edge anyway.”

“Can I help you with your backpack?  I can put it with my gear,” Allyson asked.

Chaz looked at Allyson, thinking she was making fun of him for his preparedness. “Really?  Where? It looks like you forgot your gear,” Chaz sniped.

“Right here,” said Allyson.  Reaching in front of her, Allyson pulled a formidably equipped hiking backpack out of thin air and set it on the ground. “I think I have everything I need here – water, snacks, first aid kit, bug spray, sun block, flashlight, extra batteries, clothes, extra socks....I also have a tent, cot, and a chair.  Cooking gear, food....I think that covers it.”

Chaz smiled beatifically at Allyson.

“What?” asked Allyson. “My mom always made sure we knew packed for every eventuality when we went camping.  I may have overdone it, but I’ve never been to another dimension before.”

“Crossroads, I think you packed perfectly!” said Chaz, looking directly at Silver Paladin and daring him to say something now. Chaz removed his backpack and handed it to Allyson who seemed to toss it into empty space, followed by her own back pack.

Futurina and Gerri looked on in interest. “A personal pocket dimension, Ally?  Or are you just opening a portal to your home and storing them there?” asked Futurina.

“It’s a pocket dimension, I guess.  I can’t describe what I do very accurately, but it’s like I open a seam in the fabric of our dimension and I can store things inside that opened space.  I can even get into it myself, but there’s nothing there.”

Gerri smiled and asked innocently, “So, are you going to be able to use it if you are in another dimension?”

“Ummmmm......”
"Just think what I could accomplish if I didn't have all these 80's song lyrics in my head!"

*"Now while I am gone Bobby and James you both need to make sure everyone fully recovers their strength from our last battle," Collette said to her sister and brother-in-law. "I have it on word from AphraeltheFaeChildGoddessofInnocenceversion3 herself that she has foreseen trouble here on the horizon and it would just be my luck to return and find you all suffering from a disease none of us have ever heard of before."

"Collette you be extremely careful too. Just because she is currently not our enemy does not mean you should let Krystal anywhere near Morgana by herself. Who knows who else could be waiting for you to leave us too. And besides we have our other healer here too."

There is a nervous clearing of a throat and a middle aged looking human male walks in wearing modern clothing but still looking ill at ease. Rhys Malachy Thuryn has been training Collette and the students in healing in the decades since Aphrael traveled back in time in another dimension of Earth to rescue him from certain inevitable death there and he has remained one of her neutral good servants at Ice Ray Academy ever since. "Be careful Collette. You are among the few I have entrusted my ancient healing and meditation techniques to. Do not let anyone not a friend of Acidburn try to separate you. Remember the Fae themselves are as different fron us as my race the Deryni were different from humans in my old life."

With a wave, Collette collects the few items she needs, chants an enchantment around her that will not let anyone she is not a friend or ally to read her mind or emotions unawares, dresses up like an everyday healer from old stories and teleports to the parking lot. From there she quietly but carefully walks in the direction of the magic users she was told to expect and within several minutes arrives at the glade to. "Hello everyone. My name is Collette Sackville-Baggs and Krystal asked me to accompany her on this trip as a healer if necessary."*
ID: 11292 AphraeltheFaeChildGoddessofInnocence sacrificed herself to fully defeat Drochah. She will never be able to be reincarnated ever again. Back to rping in group chats however not too often due to mental issues (imagination under strict recovery orders.) Still playing Heroes Rising though.

"Healer? Why do we need a healer?" Chaz asked Silver Paladin. "What haven't you told me about this trip?"

Silver Paladin looked at the Sword of Gerraxia and Crossroads. "I have no idea. I didn't expect that we would be going into a threatened area, but you need not worry, Chaz. I'll protect you from harm."

"It never hurts to have a healer along on any trip," Gerri said. "They can come in handy in most emergencies."

"There better not be any emergencies," Chaz said. He nodded at Collette. "Nice to meet you. I'm Chaz Hamilton, official reporter for BADGE. I've been to most of the big fights between supers and evil foes this last year, but I don't remember ever seeing you at any of them? Are you not from this planet or dimension, too?"

After the introductions and greetings were made, Chaz smirked at Silver Paladin.

"I told you she'd be late... though how someone who can just instantly be anywhere-- "

Just then a small brown wren, which had for several minutes been flitting to and fro about the area, uncharacteristically showing absolutely no fear, landed on Chaz's shoulder.

As Futerina, Gerri, and Collette relaxed and grinned, Krystal's mental voice sounded to those gathered.

"Chaz... you thought I wouldn't reconnoiter the area to be certain we are unobserved?  What kind of ninny do you take me for?"

The wren flitted down a few feet from Chaz, and as she landed, Krystal assumed her more familiar form.

Her chosen outfit resembled something archerish from a renaissance fair, with a gold-and-ruby tiara and an intricately carved bow from a strange silvery wood.

As she turned towards the ring of stones, she spoke words in an Elven dialect that only Futurina recognized, though Gerri could have placed the language as an archaic version of Auld High Elvish. The words somehow seemed to echo slightly, though no one had noticed an echo in the area beforehand.

One by one, runes activated on seemingly random stones about the ring. With an intricate hand gesture made as the final syllable was pronounced, the ring and the ground inside began glowing with a soft golden light.

"I believe you'll find this is the way, my friends...", she said

Chaz took out his camera and photographed the glowing runes. "You all go first. I want to get some pictures of this."

"I'd really rather you didn't, Chaz," Krystal said as she frowned.

"I'm not going to tell anyone where the ring is, but how many mere mortals like myself get to make this trip?" Chaz said as he put away his camera. "People have talked about fairies and such for centuries, but I will have proof of concept."

"These beings have kept themselves separate from humanity for a reason, Chaz," Silver Paladin said. "You have standards as a reporter for confidential sources, don't you?"

"I'm only here to observe," Chaz crossed his heart. "But we've got all sorts of new people coming to our world from who knows where. Humans have powers now. If the Earth is ever going to be part of all of it, the people of the planet deserve to know what all is out there. The good, the bad, and the ugly. How else will they ever be prepared to accept it without fear if they aren't exposed to the raw, unrefined facts of peoples who are essentially our closest neighbors?"

"Very well, Chaz, you may take your pictures, provided the subject in question is either inanimate or does not object.", said Krystal, albeit with a sour expression.

"That's fair... thanks.", replies Chaz.

"Just be aware that if you try to open the portal yourself, with the voice recording you just made, that only a 'living' voice can activate the runes... and mispronouncing any single syllable, or using the wrong hand gesture at the wrong time, can have, shall we just say, tragic results."

Chaz furrowed his brow for a moment, considered Krystal's words, then gulped and nodded.

"Take your pictures, then... Gerri... would you care to enter first?  Wait just outside the ring on the other side, then...", said Krystal.

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

The Sword of Gerraxia
Gerri stepped through the portal and move to the side.  She was amazed by what she saw.  The colors seemed more vivid, the air fresher, she saw small creatures she had only seen drawings of in her book.  She made sure she cleared the ring.

"Well, if it isn't my favorite Starr," She heard a familiar voice say.  She turned and looked around when she met the eyes of Ernie Keebler.  This was James uncle who retired to the Fae Realm about a decade ago.  He had traveled with her great grandmother when he was young.  He was always a good friend to the family.

"Ernie!" she stated with a smile.  "What are you doing here?"

"I heard you were coming," he smiled back and gave her a hug.  "I also heard you were bringing and old companion of mine with you.  I was sent to make sure she was following protocol.  It's a shame how they treat her."

    "You mean Futurina," she said.

"You know her real name, don't you?" Ernie asked.  "That's the name she goes by with humans.  By law I'm required to call her 'The Freak'."

"That's cruel," Gerri seemed hurt.  "She hates that."

"I know," Ernie agreed.  "The old king really hated her.  Maybe our queen will be a bit more understanding."  The portal shimmered again as someone else was to walk through.
"Swords are for fighting."

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

As Futurina stepped through the portal she winced half expecting to hit a wall.  To her surprise she passed through.  She smelled the air with a loving memory.  It had been centuries since she'd been here.  She slowly opened her eyes and moved from the ring.  There were things that only she could see with her psionic powers.  The gold circlet on her head actually amplified her powers and reflected them back to her.  This was why she never wore gold.  It hurt.

"Hello, if it isn't my old companion..." Ernie started and then lowered his head and voice," The Freak."  He looked her over and saw she was following protocol.  He wanted to give her a hug, but instead handed her a cookie.

"Hello, Ernie," Futurina stated.  "It's been a long time.  You know I hate being called a freak, let alone ' The Freak'.  I see that law has not changed since the last time I was here."  She accepted the cookie.

"There has been no reason too.  You have not been here since your exile was made permanent," Ernie replied.  "Why are you here?"

"As a guest of Krystal Fae and to correct an error," Futurina stated.  "You know of the error."

"Yes, I do," Ernie agreed.  "It's about time that error was corrected.  I know of another I would like to have corrected for you.  I would ask you to seek out Kosuth.  He hasn't been the same for many centuries now.  His treatment was better than yours though."

"Thank you, if I have the chance I shall," Futurina accepted the advice.  Kosuth was a companion they nick named "Pyro" he was a fire mage.  He went insane and sought to burn down the soul trees.  She had heard he'd been arrested and punished.  She did not know what that punishment entailed.

Silver Paladin
Chaz and Silver Paladin followed closely behind Futurina's entrance into the portal. Chaz closed the distance between himself and her as she talked to an unfamiliar individual. He glanced around at the strangely familiar landscape as he listened in, trying to look casual as he caught sight of three different moons in the sky.

Futurina interested Chaz. His nose knew a riveting story when it caught scent of one, and Futurina had more story to her than most. Plus, she brought a bottle of elven wine to a party that Chaz wanted to source out.

After hearing the new elf call her "The Freak" and catching the emotion that played over her face, Chaz was overwhelmed with sympathy for her. Everything he had ever heard about elves and fairy beings spoke of them as a noble and honorable. Identifying one solitary woman by such a demeaning nickname, exiling her while forcing her to be bound should she return, and treating her as subpar infuriated Chaz.

Humanity worked to be better than than, or at least many people did. Chaz had expected better from the beings living in the Fae-re.

When Futurina and the elf finished talking, Chaz stepped closer to Futurina. "I think what they are making you go through to be here is horrible. You should kick all their asses. Haven't they heard of civil rights and anti-bullying policies?"

Futurina sighed, "Thank you for the concern, Chaz, but I've spent most of my life on Earth."  She looked at Ernie.  "Gerraxia actually sought me out for help and we became friends.  That's how I know Ernie over there."

"Wait, I thought you grew up here?" Chaz followed up.

"No, but I have been here many times," Futurina clarified, "just not recently."

"It's been five centuries on Earth," Ernie interjected.  He offered a cookie to Chaz with a mischievous smile.

Silver Paladin
Chaz didn't look surprised at all when Futurina's age was mentioned. Wyldfyre had bragged to Silver Paladin more than enough that he was dating the ultimate cougar. He sniffed the cookie after taking it and placing it in a plastic bag. "Thanks."

"Please forgive him, Ernie," Futurina said with a grin. "Chaz, Ernie is part of Gerraxia's extended family, so to say. His gift is perfectly safe."

"I assumed so, but after that wine you gave me at Highlander's poker game, I think it is best to wait before ingesting any extra-dimensional foods until we've arrived at our first destination." Chaz said as he pocketed the cookie. "Where are we going, anyways? I'm pretty sure I don't have a navigation app for this place on my tablet."

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

Crossroads
This post was updated on .
Crossroads watched as Gerraxia, then Futurina, then Chaz and Silver Paladin entered the portal.  She felt a strange thrill of expectation as she approached the portal. Krystal gave her a reassuring smile and Crossroads crossed the portal into Fae-Re. As she transited the portal, an unsettling wave of giddiness passed through her, like that feeling one gets at the top of a tall roller coaster the instant before it starts that free fall down the first hill. Not an unpleasant feeling, but unsettling, nonetheless.
That feeling didn’t disappear as she appeared in another sylvan glade, similar to, but not quite the same, as the one she just left.  This glade was what all the fantasy tales of fairy kingdoms spoke of – the perfect example of a magical forest glade, against which all other glades would always pale in comparison.

Bemused, Crossroads moved out of the way of the portal towards where the others where others gathered, speaking with an elf – a real live elf.  He was dressed in the standard fantasy garb of forest green tunic and pants.  However, forest green was also a pale description of the color of his outfit.  It was accurate, though, in that the color was ALL the colors of the forest that somehow blended into one color that represented them all without losing a shade of it in the process.

As Crossroads approached the group, the elf smiled and greeted her, offering her a cookie.
“Welcome, Allyson!  I have heard so much about you it’s like I’ve known you for years.  Welcome to our dimension, I hope you enjoy your time with us.”

Crossroads was confused, as apparently were Gerri and Futurina.

“Ernie, how do you know of Allyson?” asked Gerri. “I’ve only really known her a little while myself.”

“Oh, well...,” began Ernie,

“...That would be my fault,” said a new voice from behind Crossroads.

Crossroads knew that voice and that giddy feeling of falling again embraced her. She had only heard the voice in her mind the one time, but she would never forget it.  Besides, it sounded so much like Allyson’s own voice, just a little deeper.

“Alexis....,” Crossroads whispered before turning around.
"Just think what I could accomplish if I didn't have all these 80's song lyrics in my head!"
